Ever since we moved in to our new downtown Kitchener digs in July, we’d been itching to throw a house party. Well, after an unforgettable night earlier this week we can officially say, “Mission accomplished” – and our guests seem to agree.
320 guests poured into the lobby of our building on Tuesday evening to celebrate the first page of our next chapter and have a few craft beers on us – and even though we all had to work the next day, many of them stayed to close out the party!
We were joined by local startups, businesses, tech community groups and even mayor Berry Vrbanovic stopped by. Maybe he spotted our sweet new Igloo sign.
They said if you hustle hard enough, one day you'll get your name on the building…
Our CEO, Dan Latendre, kicked off the festivities with an inspirational talk about our past, our present, and our future. He asked the crowd - what’s the most important part of a business. The answer? Check out the tweet below :)
And he really means it. We have an open door culture here and often get to meet with Dan about individual and company goals, so it was awesome to hear Dan express that idea to all of our partners and customers.
Speaking of culture - we’re a collaboration company at heart and our new office has the open concept design to prove it. Those who took an office tour noticed that our meeting rooms and offices have glass walls, so it's always easy to find the person you're looking for. Plus, there are skylights everywhere so even our hardest workers get a chance to see the sun now and then! Our office represents our culture, and our culture is baked right into our product - the intranet that connects people together no matter where they live.
A packed house tuning in for Dan's speech
We want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who attended our open house. New connections were formed, long-time relationships were rejuvenated, and the spirit of collaboration was palpable in every interaction throughout the night. The energy in the building was infectious, and we’ll be riding the wave of positivity and support for weeks to come.
This is just the start of a new chapter for Igloo, as we look to the future of work, collaboration and community.
Stay tuned! The crew from the tech startup podcast TSP Weekly set up in one of our meeting rooms and chatted with some of our people. It was a lot of fun and we’re looking forward to hearing the final product – Stay tuned for that on Twitter or Facebook (Norm says to check him out on Instagram, too).
