Intranet managers love this time of year. It’s partially because your big projects are wrapped up and you have time to tie up loose ends so you can start big in 2016. But mostly, it’s because you have a chance to piggyback on the hype of the holidays and do some fun stuff on your intranet.
It’s the time of year when you can get a bit less serious and strike up some engagement on your intranet while everyone’s getting in the spirit of the holidays. The best part, any creative measures you take are low-risk and almost guaranteed to please because the focus is on your people and giving them ways to celebrate together.
A modern intranet can be a great tool for quickly organizing holiday activities that typically require some crafty coordination of tools, time, and resources – like a potluck, photo gallery, or charity drive. Here at Igloo, we’re making our Secret Santa gift exchange a bit easier by adding our wish lists to our profiles in the People Directory on our intranet. This way, we can figure out what to give our fellow Iglooites without being obvious about it, and we get to learn about each other along the way. If it’s your first year with an intranet, you might want to start small with something like this, then keep growing your traditions for years to come.
To help you get started, we came up with 12 ideas to keep everyone feeling festive as the year winds down. We guess you could say it’s like an advent calendar, but in the form of a PDF and sorry, there’s no hidden chocolate. Regardless, we hope you find these tips helpful over the next couple of weeks and into the New Year, too.
