CanAFRO Community

CanAFRO is a collection of research resources and publications about, and by Afro-Latino communities. CanAFRO is a point of exchange for academics, development professionals, government officials and Afro-Latino communities to share information, dialogue and collaborate on political, economic and social development issues facing Afro-Latino communities.

The Challenge

One of the greatest challenges to development in Latin America is the prevalence of unequal social development. In this regard, descendants from Africa, or Afro Latinos, are particularly burdened by political, economic and social marginalization within Latin America. Afro-Latinos constitute approximately one third of the region's population; yet, they are close to half of the region's poor.
