Q: What is the mission of IGLOO?

IGLOO Software provides a Web 2.0 corporate social networking (CSN) suite for organizations  of any size. Organization use our software to quickly, easily and cost effectively deploy corporate social networking solutions to connect employees (Workplace CSN), customers,  partners and suppliers (Marketplace CSN)  to achieve business results.

Q: Who are the primary target users of the IGLOO?

Q: Do I need to download anything?

The IGLOO CSN suite is delivered using a software as a service (SaaS) model and require no additional software or plug-ins. Some features may require you to have Adobe Acrobat Reader, Adobe Flash or a media plug-in to watch videos.

Q: What operating systems does your platform support?

MAC OS, Windows XP and most UNIX systems. IGLOO also supports most handheld wireless devices, such as the BlackBerry.

Q: What browsers does your platform support?

Firefox 1.7 or higher; Internet Explorer v6.0 or higher; Opera 9.10 or higher.

Q: Does the platform support multiple languages?

The interface will be translated into the five official languages sanctioned by the UN before the end of 2008. Users can upload content into their online network in any language.

Q: What is the difference between a corporate social network and a web site?

A corporate social network acts as an interactive online community. Organizations can invite members to the community to engage in forums, blogs or add content. As well, authorized members can set up both public and private areas within the community based on roles. A web site is typically managed by a small collective within an organizations and does not include the opt-in or interactive features that a community does.

Q: Can a corporate social network be public or private?

Yes. Administrators can set up permissions to be private, public or both.

Q: Can it be customized easily?

Yes. Every corporate social network powered by IGLOO comes with a set of tools found in the Control Panel which allows you to change and configure the entire environment including navigation, name/description of your community, visual themes, and much more. You can use the rich text editor to add content and change the look and feel of any page.

Q: Can I set up a custom URL or domain?

Yes. Contact us at support@igloo.org or your assigned representative to request the change.

Q: Can I use a corporate social network to replace my existing web site?

Yes. Many organizations and businesses have done this already, saving thousands of dollars on ISP and web development fees.

Q: Does IGLOO help customers in marketing and promoting their corporate social network?

Yes. IGLOO has created a "Community Marketing 101" guide to help customers with marketing and promoting their corporate social networks.  It is all about creating a sense of community - making members feel like they belong. for Please visit the downloads section of the web site to view this and other helpful toolkits.

Q: How does search engine optimization work?

Search engine optimization is built into the platform. Note it is only available for publicly available corporate social networks. Administrators can add custom global meta tags to improve search result rankings on major search sites like Google and Yahoo!. The best search engine optimization strategy is based on links. The more external links to your network you have, the higher your ranking in major search engines, such as Google and Yahoo will be.

Q: What if I want to remove my data from IGLOO?

Customers can remove their data by emailing support@igloosoftware.com. IGLOO will provide a complete data dump of all the data within 30 days of the request. It is recommended that you download any documents from the corporate social network to a personal repository.
