A Game Plan for Bringing Social Networking to the Enterprise
The biggest obstacle to creating a successful community is getting people to join, return and contribute.
Just deploying social software does not guarantee adoption. In fact, Gartner predicts that through 2012, over 70% of IT-dominated social media initiatives will fail. And although we have embraced social networking with fervor in our personal life, and some are even bypassing IT to bring these capabilities to work, success is not preordained.
According to Forrester's Best Practices for Introducing Social Technologies, most organizations consider the challenges posed by sociology to be far more challenging than those posed by the technology itself. It's a recognized fact that adoption is a culture and business process issue, rather than a technology one.
With so many self-proclaimed gurus and experts in social media, it's difficult to know where you can turn to map a clear approach. That's why IGLOO has created the IGLOO Social Media Playbook - a free online resource that includes a step-by-step guide; tips and tricks; video resources; best practices; and strategies that document and teach proven community building methodologies. It's an innovative series of plays to help you drive adoption in even the most discerning workforce.
