Watch out for these red flags:

- "Social media is a great strategy for every company and if you don't have it, you'll be left behind."

social media isn't right for every business. Do you have the resources to support a strategy long term, and is your industry already involved in social media?

"I want the corner butcher back. Bring it back a century."

So said Scott Stratten when asked what business should look like in a social media world.

"I don't want Walmart, I want the butcher who knows my name and saves me a certain cut of meat because he knows I like it and my family might enjoy it for Sunday dinner. The thing is, big business can do that too."

Stratten is president of Un-Marketing, an "UnAgency" that counsels such corporate giants as PepsiCo, Red Cross and Fidelity…
