June 2008 - Community Pulse & Embed

by Elizabeth Chestney - 6 months ago

Below is the growing list of new features, functionality, and upgrades that have been added to IGLOO during the second quarter of 2008:

Keep Your Finger on Your Community's Pulse...

We’re excited to introduce this quarter's latest and greatest product upgrades and releases for IGLOO's corporate social networking suite.

1. Community "Pulse"

Pulse is a new feature that displays the ‘pulse' or most recent items added to your community, including:

  • Forums
  • Gallery Images
  • Blog Articles
  • Documents

What's New displays the item added and the most recent contributors, making it simple and straightforward for community members and managers to view the latest items added to your community or corporate social network.

A community's default home page will now be the What's New feature, keeping the community's home page fresh with dynamic and relevant content. The first entry is always the creation of the community. Note: Administrators can still choose any other application as their home page, for example the Photo Gallery, from the Control Panel.

2. Embed Album Slideshows & Documents

Members can embed both an album slide show and a document (supported by Flash Paper) into an editable area in their community. Both items provide the user with embed code which can be inserted using the HTML functionality in the web page editor.

3. Item Previews Support Flash & Images

Community members who upload flash files or images to the community will see a preview on the item's landing page.

4. Member Directory

You can now "sort by latest" in the Member Directory, giving community member's a view to who's new to the corporate social network.

Coming Soon...

Rating - members will be able to rate most items within a community, with the exception of events and members, with a 5 star rating system, enabling members and facilitators to keep track of high quality items within the corporate social network. Ratings will display the average rating per item along with the number of votes.
