Michael Hugos, a former CIO, & Principal at the Center for Systems Innovation features Igloo Software in his newest article surrounding gamification. This new term is surrounded around how companies are starting to use the motivational techniques of video games -- such as points, leaderboards and levels -- to create more engaging business applications. His latest book surrounded around gamification titled, "Serious Games: The Future of Work", will be available In July.
CIO - Gamification--it's the awkward word that describes the practice of applying game- design thinking to non-game applications so people find them more interesting and engaging.
Today, companies are starting to use common video-game techniques such as points, badges and leader boards to make their websites more interactive and to reward people for their contributions. But this is only the start of the inevitable merging of games and business.
With all the serious stuff going on in the world…
The Canadian cloud community is richer than many IT (and business) professionals appreciate. After extensive research of pure Canadian SaaS providers, IT in Canada has listed Igloo Software in their list of firms that help companies solve business problems today.

Laurie McCabe, Consultant, provides her coverage of the Enterprise 2.0 conference in her Tech Tidbits. Here, she illustrates a roundup of some of the more interesting collaboration and social apps, such as Igloo that are aimed squarely at small and medium businesses (SMBs).
This week I had a chance to attend the 2012 Enterprise 2.0 conference in Boston, which focuses on social business and collaboration solutions. This edition of Tech Tidbits features a roundup of some of the more interesting collaboration and social apps aimed squarely at small and medium businesses (SMBs) that I was able to speak with at the show.
But first, I'd like to share three key trends that surfaced very clearly at the event:
- More vendors are paying attention to SMBs. Until recently,…
Eileen Brown, Social Business Consultant and Contributor for ZDNet, covers the Enterprise 2.0 Conference held in Boston. In her recap she notes that it is the smaller, more agile collaboration companies, such as Igloo, that are worth watching.
Social business tools are evolving into a holistic way of collaboration for smart enterprises and this smart working energises the social enterprise for organisations.
Enterprise 2.0 in Boston later this week brings together corporate social collaboration platforms. Companies such as Yammer, Mindlink and Igloo will be there alongside larger collaboration players such as IBM and Microsoft.
Smaller, more agile companies are really worth watching not only because of their potential to be swept…
Brian Proffitt provides his viewpoints toward speculations that Microsoft may acquire Yammer. With SharePoint's pricing model and lack of "social" intregrated within the product, Proffitt also mentions how companies are seeking alternative solutions that are less expensive and more social such as Igloo.
Microsoft is reportedly set to acquire the Yammer business social network for an estimated $1 billion. The deal would give a much-needed social network injection to its SharePoint business collaboration platform.
Yammer - with an estimated valuation of $500 million - makes business-oriented social network tools for internal company sharing and discussion centered on blog posts and automatically generated content (such as notifications that a document is ready to edit or a sale has been…
Just recently, Igloo was asked to provide a guest post to www.insideipo.com. Check out '5 Things You Need To Know About Igloo' below.
By now you've heard of Yammer, but have you heard of Igloo Software? Possibly the best kept secret in enterprise social networking, Igloo combines file sharing, microblogging and a host of other collaboration tools in a single sweep. We power communities for small and mid-sized businesses, including Harry Winston and the ATP World Tour, and even scale up to support larger enterprises. Here's what you need to know about this cloud collaboration company:
1. User Base: Igloo has over 4,000 global…
After reading Dan Latendre's latest white paper & seeing his presentation at the Advanced Intranet+Portal Conference, David Roe, Senior Reporter for CMSWire, became inspired to offer his in-depth insight on the future of work.
A final visit to the Advanced Intranet+Portal Conference from last week. We heard already that the importance of content is changing so that now the context of that content is really where it's at. At the heart of this is the next emerging trend in content: Social, mobile and cloud.
As individual elements, according to Dan Latendre, CEO of Igloo, there is nothing really new there. Combined, however, enterprises are faced with a powerful force that they either embrace and manage, or get left…
James Cull, Writer for App Storm, provides his readers with a detailed review of Igloo's social enterprise software. Whether it be it's document management capabilities or its special features, James states that "Igloo is just how corporate intranets – and web apps – should be. The entire system feels incomprehensibly powerful, yet doesn’t overwhelm the user with a complicated interface and steep learning curve."
Within a business, the necessity to be able to communicate with every single department within your company is pretty much vital, no matter whether it employes 50 people or 5,000 people. There are plenty of ways to do this (such as e-mail and telephone) but now, more companies are pushing towards an actual Internet platform, or intranets, as the medium for collaboration and sharing information.
There are plenty of sites out there on the net that will help you set up a company intranet (most…

HIPAA and Social Media/Websites are a difficult solution, but I do believe BYOD intranets in healthcare offer some very interesting options. Now that Tigertext has made TigerConnect API, one of the options is to make apps, that allow patients and doctors to securely communicate medical information by text. This is not the same as doing it via a…
