Here’s to 7 Years in the Gartner Magic Quadrant

By Adam Stephens - October 27, 2015

Another year, another Magic Quadrant for Social Software in the Workplace, and once again, we’re in it. For 7 years now, we’ve been included in this report, in the Niche players category. This time, we made a little video to better explain the report itself, and our general positioning within the space.

By the nature of this report, we fit perfectly in the Niche players category. We take pride in our placement. We see ourselves as intranet specialists. We’ve taken a concept, intranets, and made it awesome again. They were just so often maligned that people started dismissing them. Really though, all they needed was a little love. They needed a modernizing, and they needed the right capabilities to truly become part of the development of work culture.

From the start, we believed that an intranet shouldn’t be some generic looking software. It should represent you, it should be an asset, rather than just another medium. It’s what we’ve strived for since day one. Our hundreds of clients also seem to think that way. Companies are evolving, their rules are changing. We get it, right now, most companies are still looking for a generic looking platform. At this time, our flexibility in configuration and customization makes us a niche solution. We prefer to say we’re ahead of the curve. You know, tomayto, tomahto.

At the end of the day, we’re keeping up with some of the largest technology companies in the world, and we’re honored to be included alongside them. We know how most of you look at this report, your eyes wandering instantly to the top right. We can’t entirely blame you, we look at leaders too. However, we hope you’re really thinking about what problems you’re trying to solve, and then evaluating platforms against that. These leaders have earned their spot, but are they taking into account the new age of corporate communications being ushered in? Do they allow a voice for your employees? Will they be reactive enough for you? We don’t think they will. Those issues are still far away for many companies, sure. But wouldn’t you rather be a step ahead? We are, and we can tell you, it’s pretty great.
