About
Rob Collins retired from full-time employment in 2004 after 25 years in the software industry. Twenty of those years were with Cognos where he held a diverse range of positions including Vice-President of a Products division which represented several hundred million dollars worth of revenue per year and also Chief Information Officer. Since that time, besides getting a degree in History from OttawaU, Rob has sat on the board or advised several local start-ups. Rob also participates regularly in the Lead to Win program which seeks to help laid-off high-tech workers start their own companies and produce jobs in the Ottawa area.
In 2008, Rob sat as Chair of the Mayor's Task Force on eGovernment. Their report (http://ottawa.taskforcereport.ca/) led to a number of changes being implemented at the City of Ottawa to focus on improved service and reduced costs for the people of this community. To facilitate this, Rob serves as Chief Technology Advisory to Ottawa City Council. As well, Rob sat on the Mayor's Task Force on Governance and participates in local community organizations which seek to bring citizens and municipal government closer together.
Jack of all trades, master of none, Rob's focus is on the synthesis of various specialties by bringing together people who should, but often do not, collaborate and by applying technology to achieve clear, measurable goals.
